Invisalign in Lyons and Inman, KS

Orthodontics is an important area of dentistry because it does a great deal more than give us an attractive and aligned smile. It is an area that looks at the proper alignment of our bite (where our upper and lower teeth meet) and ensures we can eat, speak and even grow properly. Dr. Brian Kynaston, Dr. Matthew Perry, and Dr. Seth Prochaska of Lyons Dental Care and Inman Dental Care offer orthodontics to patients of all ages and encourage teens and adults to consider Invisalign.

What is Invisalign?

While you might hear this treatment referred to as invisible braces, this is not exactly accurate. After all, braces rely on brackets glued to the individual teeth and wires strung through the brackets in order to pull teeth into a better position.

Invisalign has no wires or brackets. Instead, it is a system that uses a finely tuned series of custom designed “trays” or aligners. These slip tightly over your teeth and apply gentle and persistent pressure that slowly moves your teeth into a better placement. You wear the trays for a period of two or more weeks before you move on to the next in the series.

Can Anyone Use It?

Of course, one of the first questions that patients at Lyons Dental Care and Inman Dental Care must do is help us determine if Invisalign is a functional solution to their needs. Not everyone is able to use this system, and it will take a professional like our dentists to do the appropriate exam and evaluation.

Typically, patients with mild to moderate cross, over or under bites, crowding or gapping are able to enjoy success with this orthodontic treatment. If our evaluation determines you need a more aggressive treatment, we have other options available.

How Long Does Invisalign Take?

We understand that every patient is different, and so we cannot give you a fixed number of months that you must use the trays. Instead, we can tell you that it usually takes from ten to 24 months for realignment to occur, and then you will wear specialized retainers as you sleep to ensure the teeth remain in place.

Is It Only for Orthodontic Patients?

Not at all! If your teeth and gums are healthy, or you work with us to get them into the best condition possible, but you still hide your smile because of crooked or crowded teeth, we can offer you Invisalign, too. As a form of cosmetic dentistry, it is an ideal solution and can be a wonderfully discreet way to improve your smile.

Consider Invisalign Treatment

Whether you are teen self-conscious about braces or anyone worried about the discomfort of wires and brackets, the aligners are a good answer. They make it easier to do good oral hygiene, eat a regular diet (you remove the aligners to eat and to clean your teeth and gums), and straighten your teeth with total secrecy. If you are eager to learn more, feel free to contact us online or by calling our Lyons office at (620) 257-5193 or our Inman office at (620) 585-6766.
